What have BurdaStyle customers been sewing in 2013? Take a look at the top ten most-downloaded BurdaStyle patterns – is your favourite among them?
Our Number 1 bestseller for the year to date, this stylish top has a beautifully draped peplum that flatters the waist and hips, and looks stunning in any colour! If you don’t wear brights well, try it in flattering black or timeless cream. Pair it over a matching skirt for a dress look, or for a casual look wear with a pair of skinny jeans.
Our second most downloaded pattern this year is femininity itself! This floaty ankle-length dress has a fitted bodice, a layered skirt and short gathered sleeves. It’s respectably high cut at the front but the back plunges alluringly down to the waist.
Taking third place, this fun bustier top has a great retro feel to it. Wear it with a high waisted skirt or under a sheer top. This pattern can also be used to make a lovely bikini top. For bikini bottoms, why not use our panties pattern?
At number 4, this summer staple features a fitted bodice with cute capped sleeves and a gathered skirt. The pattern has all the bodice and sleeve pieces and you draft the skirt yourself by following the instructions to measure and cut two rectangles, which are gathered and attached to the bodice.
In fifth place comes this 1950s-inspired swimsuit, which has a flattering halter neck, pretty gathers on the cups and a lovely bow detail on the back. Soak up some rays or hit the beach in your very own version!
Our sixth bestseller this year, this preppy feminine shirt has sewn-on bands and a charming bow detail on the neckline. Perfect for the office neatly tucked into a skirt this can also be dressed down over trousers for a simple casual look.
At number 7, believe it or not is a men’s shirt pattern! BurdaStyle members were asking for menswear, and when we gave it to them, they loved it! The Jakob shirt is a classic button down sure to please. Make it in a traditional check or striped fabric, or get a little crazy with prints and silks!
Eighth place goes to this bias cut, cowl neck dress. Although made in tweed, the cowl neckline and the small waist gathers work together to make the fabric appear as light as a feather. Darts in the back ensure the perfect fit.
An unexpected entry at number nine, these easy and comfortable trousers are incredibly versatile and make great lounging trousers or pyjama bottoms. The popularity of this pattern has to be down to its simplicity, making it the perfect beginner project – just a few pattern pieces and sewn in a jiffy!
And our tenth most popular pattern so far this year is this lovely pencil skirt. The high-waist is gorgeous and flattering for the figure, with princess seams to get the perfect fit. Great for all occasions, a good pencil skirt is a wardrobe must-have – and this is our very best!
