After months of busy beavering behind the scenes, the world’s leading DIY fashion and sewing brand BurdaStyle is now live in the UK at www.BurdaStyle.co.uk
The British little sister of the US site at BurdaStyle.com, BurdaStyleUK brings fashion sewers in the UK instant access to the BurdaStyle pattern catalogue with sewing and dressmaking patterns that can be downloaded as PDF patterns to print and assemble at home, alongside a wide range of sewing fabrics, threads, haberdashery and other related product. The BurdaStyleUK blog will also offer dressmaking tutorials, fashion news and styling advice.
“At BurdaStyle.com we have an extensive DIY fashion and sewing community and we’re delighted to be extending this further with a dedicated UK business,” says Frances Evans of Burda International. “The BurdaStyle brand enjoys unparalleled renown as the world’s biggest creative fashion magazine. It inspires fashion and sewing enthusiasts into creating their own individual style, offering sewing patterns, tutorials and an active community where modern sewers can express their unique creativity.”
Buoyed by the success of the hit BBC TV show, The Great British Sewing Bee, sewing and dressmaking has enjoyed significant growth in the UK in 2013 with British consumers now eager for fashionable garment patterns for sewing at home. The launch of BurdaStyleUK will serve this ever-growing community with high-quality on-trend patterns delivered through a user-friendly store with pricing in Sterling and with a UK-based customer services team, as well as a uniquely British sense of style in curating product and content.
“British fashion and style is quite distinct from that of America and Europe. BurdaStyleUK will serve the UK audience with uniquely British content that reflects these cultural differences in our attitudes to fashion,” says BurdaStyleUK content manager Ame Verso. “Through the blog and our social media streams, we’ll be focusing on what is important to British fashion sewers, and helping to inspire a new generation to start sewing their own clothes.”
The launch will be celebrated at the Knitting & Stitching Show at the Alexandra Palace, London from 10–13 October, with BurdaStyle patterns appearing in a daily catwalk fashion show.
