So, after episode 2 of the Great British Sewing Bee, Annie and Alex have gone and we are down to eight contestants. Don’t know about you but we thought waistcoats on Week 2 was a bit much!
However, Neil, Lorna and Ryan excelled at the waistcoat challenge – Ryan is surely set for Saville Row? If you fancy picking up the challenge yourself you can find this pattern here.
Then they had to tackle the alteration challenge which, they should all know by now, is all about ‘transformation’. This week we had boxing shorts from Neil, harem pants from Alex and a one shouldered number from Neela. We’ve got a fab pattern for kids’ harem pants if you were inspired by Alex’s efforts here.
The contestants finished off with some crazy 3D kids’ outfits on REAL children! They really let their imaginations go and we saw elephants, peacocks, cupcakes and smart phones (!). There was a vast array of materials used in these outfits to give them structure and form including toy stuffing, felt, wadding, and boning, wow!
You can find wadding for your costumes here and a large number of children’s costume patterns here. We are also giving away this free chicken costume pattern, just in time for Easter themed dressing up – just add the promo code CHICK!
